Having kicked off the year with the release of remixes for Oscar Key Sung and Slum Sociable, Melbourne artist DARCY BAYLIS now shares Envelopes: a three-track EP built on the minimalist approach to house music established on 2014’s How Can I Live? / Ecstasy EP.

Balancing his studies in composition at the Victorian College of the Arts with a strict regiment of experimentation in his own work, Baylis has continued to look forward - unyielding in the forging of his personal aesthetic.

Written in the wake of a personal crisis, Envelopes juxtaposes lyrical exploration of anxiety, paranoia and delusion against house’s kinetic form, eschewing the genre’s euphoric tropes to great effect. While the pulse remains constant, Baylis’ melodies move like wild gusts, building steadily until the track reaches its fitful boiling point.

Envelopes is constructed with an undeniable clarity of vision – immaculately arranged and expertly executed.
